The 2017 FISEC Games

The CSSF executive committee and team managers would like to pass on our sincere best wishes to everyone whose lives have been affected in any way by the recent terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.

This morning, we were contacted by both the President of FISEC and the organiser of the games in Italy, offering their condolences to everyone in Great Britain. They also provided us with some information that will hopefully help to alleviate some of the anxieties about our forthcoming trip to Italy.

The Italian organising committee are arranging for additional security throughout the games both at the hotels and at the sporting events. The hotel will be patrolled regularly by the local authorities and by additional people from the Italian national sporting governing body. There will be security guards at the athletics stadium and the entrance to the complex where the swimming will take place is 'barrier controlled'. Competitors will all be given a wrist band for identification purposes and spectators will be asked to show some form of ID on entry or when required.

Understandably, we all have concerns and worries about the current situation, however we are determined that the horrific actions of cowardly terrorists will not dictate how we live our lives or influence the opportunities and experiences that we provide for our young people. We therefore plan to go ahead with the trip and CSSF Great Britain's participation in the FISEC games.

If you would like to discuss this further, please don't hesitate in contacting team managers.
